Zerocard offers up to 3.0% cash back on all qualified purchases; enables users to track spending, make payments and more through one seamless app.
San Francisco, CA, July 30, 2019 –(PR.com)– Zero, the technology-driven banking app helping consumers avoid overspending, today announced that all members of the waitlist have been invited to apply and Zero is now launched to the public. Zero offers an industry-first “debit-style” credit experience, helping consumers avoid overspending while earning cash back. Previously only available to a limited waitlist, the financial technology platform – which has raised $35M to date from investors including New Enterprise Associates (NEA), SignalFire, Eniac Ventures, and Nyca – is the first modern banking experience to combine the simplicity of a debit card with the rewards of a credit card, featuring unlimited 1.0% to 3.0% cash back on qualified spending. Zero is available now in the Apple App Store and has opened pre-registration for Android in the Google Play store.
Zero is fast, easy to use and powerful – its intuitive design has the functionality consumers expect from a modern mobile banking app in addition to offering access to the cash back rewards expected with a credit card. The platform does this by combining the management of two accounts – a checking account (Zero Checking) to hold your money and a credit card (Zerocard) that makes great rewards possible – all in one app. Through Zero’s “Debit-style Experience,” customers’ accounts work together to provide a seamless experience comparable to a cash back debit card. Deposits and Zerocard spending appear in one place in the app to make tracking spending and available balance easier to manage – a customer’s available checking account balance effectively becomes their self-imposed Zerocard spending limit, helping to avoid unintentional overspending. From there, customers earn cash back on their credit card spending at rates competitive with the best rewards credit cards.
Zerocard is available in four levels – Quartz, Graphite, Magnesium and Carbon – each with a corresponding increase in percentage of cash back earned and a unique industry award-winning card design. Zerocard customers can level up in two ways – first, based on their annual spending, and second, by referring qualified friends to apply.
“Unlike big banks, Zero won’t tempt consumers to overspend their way into debt,” said Bryce Galen, Founder and CEO of Zero. “Big banks are also built on highly outdated technology. We built Zero from the ground up with the latest tech, so we could give customers a more delightful and rewarding experience.”
Issued by WebBank, Zerocard is a World Mastercard that provides unlimited cash back with no category restrictions at a higher rate than many other credit cards in the U.S. market. It can be used worldwide without foreign transaction fees, and doesn’t charge annual, maintenance or ATM fees (beyond what ATM owners may charge).
1. Zero Checking is offered through Evolve Bank & Trust, Member FDIC.
2. Based on an internal analysis of credit card offerings on Credit Karma, July 09, 2019.
“Today’s consumers are looking for a banking experience that empowers them, which is why we’re excited about Zerocard’s new approach to banking and rewards for the digital age,” said Jason Lloyd, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at WebBank. “We’re looking forward to combining WebBank’s expertise and Zero’s technology to change the way consumers spend and earn rewards.”
To start using Zero, consumers can download the Zero app (available now in the Apple App Store and for pre-registration on Android) and follow instructions to complete an application. Applicants approved for a Zerocard can then enable “Debit-style Experience” to discourage overspending and begin using their card to earn rewards on qualified purchases.
